Mass Shootings and Leftist Politics by George Leef

In this post, Dr. Miguel Faria Jr. examines the connection between mass shooting and leftist politics. Naturally, Democratic politicians and most of the media declare that the solution is more stringent gun-control laws — which they know don’t work, but might elect more Democrats.

Faria observes, “Nothing has been said about much bigger societal problems, such as the increased polarization of America since the Obama administration and the incitement of violence by Democrats and the media — for example, calling rioters “peaceful protesters,” the gaslighting and justifying their criminal behavior, violence, looting and plundering as reasonable social justice.”

He’s right. Leftist policies lead to a host of pathologies — badly educated young people, a sense of entitlement to property belonging to others, feelings of grievance and hatred against “oppressor groups,” and so on. Those pathologies lead to all manner of problems, including shootings, and then the leftists use them to argue for more of their social and economic control.
