It plots democide compared to the greatest causes/factors of death in 1998. Democide deaths exceed those for illicit drugs, sexually transmitted diseases, air pollution, alcohol, all domestic/foreign wars, traffic accidents, homicides, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes mellitus, and tobacco. In fact, governments murdered more people than died in total from war, traffic accidents, homicides, and alcohol combined.
