Barack Obama taking oath of office in 2013Barack Obama swore as U.S. President to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Instead he has violated his oath of office repeatedly by expanding the powers of the federal government at the expense of individual citizens and attempting to yield the sovereignty of the U.S. to the U.N. The Obama administration, for example, has sided with the U.N. against state laws in his own country on several occasions. In Arizona, the Obama administration attempted to prevent the state from enforcing immigration laws. Perhaps more egregiously he colluded with the U.N. to use the treaty power of the U.S Constitution to circumvent the entire document, particularly when it comes to the Second Amendment. We refer to the U.N. Small Arms Treaty that Obama and many Democrats supported. This treaty represented a backdoor attempt to impose restrictions on U.S. gun rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment, including registration of some firearms, banning and confiscation of others. By using the U.N. treaty, Obama and his political allies hoped to bring about gun control, bypassing the protections of the U.S. Constitution.

Barack Obama, virtually as his first accolade, received an unearned Nobel Peace Prize from his left-wing admirers in Stockholm, not for what he had achieved in terms of bringing about world peace and harmony, but for what he would supposedly accomplish as a promising American president!

During the preceding presidency of George W. Bush, Muammar Qaddafi of Libya, the l'enfant terrible of past ages, was tamed, and the "strongman" of Libya renounced the use of terrorism, allowing the U.N. to inspect his country for nuclear weapons. Ironically, that actArab Spring Violence in Egypt of submission years later helped seal his fate when Obama decided to flex his skinny biceps in the airspace of Libya as a popularity-gaining stunt. With his unearned Peace Prize under his belt, Obama ordered the illegal bombing of Libya, killing untold civilians. Qaddafi was killed in the ensuing civil war but peace and stability in the region remain nowhere in sight.

Tunisia and Egypt, two former U.S. allies and friends, have also been destabilized by the "change" brought about by the inclement weather of the "Arab Spring" that Obama so enthusiastically endorsed in the Middle East. As a result, our enemies in that region are on the rise, and we are losing our staunchest friends and allies!

And as if that was not enough, in North Africa on the night of the anniversary of 9-11 in 2012, the U.S Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and several other courageous Americans were killed while serving at their post in the diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya — massacred byAmbassador Chris Steven's death in Benghazi heavily armed gunmen, the type of insurrectionary mob our President Obama supported in the "Arab Spring."

According to European newspapers, torture and "medieval depravities" were inflicted on the Americans before they were killed. A cover-up has resulted since then, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has not been forthcoming with the truth about what really happened in Benghazi and explaining why our diplomats were not protected. The investigation has fallen short and no one has been prosecuted.

On December 4, 2011, the U.S lost a sensitive U.S. RQ-170 drone, conducting reconnaissance missions in Iran near the city of Kashmar, to the Iranian Islamic government. Why wasn't this highly sensitive drone destroyed before it fell into the Iranians' hands? Reportedly, President Obama did not order or refused to order its destruction. This past September 2013, the Iranians reported that they have completed the decoding of the surveillance data and software Iran TV showing captured U.S. droneextracted from the captured CIA drone. The captured data is reportedly a "gold mine" of intelligence that will be available to Iran as well as to its allies, China and Russia.

Obama did attempt to get all the political and military credit for the tracking down and killing of Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of 9-11 and the head of the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda, in Pakistan on May 2, 2011. But the credit belongs to the U.S. Navy Seals, who conducted the secret operation, and the much maligned Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), whose analysts and assets had been tracking Bin Laden assiduously for years.

The latest flop is the Ukraine fiasco in the Crimea. Do you remember the scandalous incident when during missile defense talks in 2012 Obama told then Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he [Obama] would have "more flexibility" after the U.S. presidential election? The chickens of poor diplomacy came home to roost in the Crimean situation during thObama with Medvedeve last couple of weeks. It now seems obvious the destabilizing situation in the Ukraine may have been fomented in part, not only by Russia's belligerence and expansionism, but also by Obama's perceived pusillanimity and slavish servility to the Russians! It is worth reminding the reader the long planned U.S. Missile Defense for the Ballistic Defense of Europe (aka as the European Interceptor Site) which was to be deployed in 2009 in Poland and the Czech Republic (with the enthusiastic approval of those countries which fear militant Iran as well as expansionist Russia) were cancelled by Obama utilizing his "flexibility" option.  If Obama exercised his flexibility abandoning America's European allies to accommodate Russia, it stands to reason Obama likewise would have more accommodating flexibility with Russia's annexation of the Crimea!

In a recent letter to the editor in the Macon Telegraph, an astute reader, summarized the situation as follows: "Recall that in 2009 President Obama sent Hillary Clinton to do a “reset” with Russia — as though geopolitics is some kind of video game in which you can start over if you don’t like how things began. This reset involved cancelling the sanctions President Bush had imposed on Russia for invading the country of Georgia in 2008. Additionally, Obama pulled the security carpet out from under our Eastern European allies when he unilaterally cancelled the missile defense shield that we had promised to deploy to Poland and the Czech Republic. Finally, in the 2012 presidential campaign, when Mitt Romney said that Russia was a geopolitical threat, Obama arrogantly sneered and mocked him for saying so."

Who will be the first to blink? It seems the letter writer agrees with me that Erick Erickson was on the right track, when he exclaimed in his GOPUSA column, "there are chickens roosting in the Crimea." Let's add that President Barack Obama, the Nobel Prize winner, is mired knee-deep in blame! In short, the foreign affairs scenario can not be worse for the U.S under the present administration: Simply, the Russians have Vladimir Putin protecting their interests; we have Obama squandering ours!

This early mid-term report card is short and obviously incomplete but it can be added to and amended as needed by the alert and vigilant readers of GOPUSA by writing comments about other foreign affairs incidents that I may not have mentioned or not reported in enough detail. Hopefully, we will also have an Obama report card on domestic issues soon!

Putin laughs at Obama in the Baltic?

Russian SU-27 Jet performs a “barrel-roll” maneuver over U.S. Air Force reconnaissance plane over the Baltic Sea, reports CNN News, April 29, 2016.

What are the possibilities? First, is there any question that the maneuver was authorized by Russian President Vladimir Putin? Of course not.

And so Putin and his macho Russian compadres are flexing their resurrected military muscles over the U.S. at will. The Baltic Sea, I suppose, the Russians now tacitly claim as mare nostrum.

Or simply, and slightly less belligerently, that Vladimir Putin is having fun while telling NATO that we are no longer enemies and the Russians can now unilaterally conduct war games for fun (and laugh) at U.S. expense?

And can you just imagine Barack Obama fretting in the U.S plane while holding on to his seat, while Putin smiles at him from the SU-27 jet?

Democrat Presidents' historical survey!

Macon Telegraph, Letter to the Editor, September18, 2015: It’s the Democrats’ fault

Foreign policy decisions by Democratic presidents from 1945 to the present:

• Harry S. Truman (1945-53) supported the Yalta and Potsdam agreements that divided Europe and created the Cold War that led to today’s Russia. After the war Truman gutted the military. When North Korea invaded South Korea, he was unable to respond militarily. American-led U.N. forces eventually occupied North Korea. Threatened, China launched a counteroffensive that drove those forces out of North Korea that divided the country that created the North Korea we have today.

• John F. Kennedy (1961-63) altered the Cuba invasion plans (approved by outgoing Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower) and that led to its failure, the Cuba missile crisis and Cuba today. Kennedy started financially and militarily supporting South Vietnam in violation of the 1954 Geneva agreement. His “strategic hamlet” strategy angered a great many South Viennese peasants turning them against America.

• Lyndon B. Johnson (1963-69) initiated Plan 34B that sent mercenaries into North Vietnam, which led to the attack on the USS Maddox, which led to the Tonkin Gulf Resolution, which led to Operation Rolling Thunder, which led to the Tet Offensive, which led to a massive escalation which eventually led to our withdrawal.

• James E. Carter Jr. (1977-81) signed the Panama Canal treaty giving the Panama Canal to the Panamanians. On his watch Iranian extremists sent the American-backed Shah of Iran into exile. Anti-America revolutionary Ayatollah Khomeini returned to replace him as Iran’s supreme leader. Iranian students seized the American embassy taking 52 hostage. Operation Eagle Claw launched to rescue the hostages crashed and burned. Events that created the Iran we see today.

• William J. Clinton (1993-2001) removed all troops from Somalia leaving the country in a state of anarchy that exists there to this day. Clinton did little to stop the genocide in Rwanda that killed 500,000 to 1 million. The World Trade Center bombing killed six and injured thousands. The attacks on two U.S. embassies in East Africa killed 250 people and 12 Americans. The attack on the USS Cole in Yemen killed 17 Navy sailors. Each orchestrated by Osama bin Laden under Clinton’s nose. So it’s no surprise the planning and preparation for the 9/11 attacks, by bin Laden, that killed 2,977, began on Clinton’s watch.

• Barack H. Obama (2009 to the present) continues to create division, chaos, death and destruction with every decision while invigorating and emboldening our adversaries by dismantling restraints placed on them by former Republican presidents. Ironically, the very adversaries created by his Democratic predecessors.— Travis L. Middleton, Peach County

Although a bit hard on Truman (he did not create the cold war; Stalin did!) and Clinton (in some things judged sternly but not hard enough on others, e.g., giving U.S. secrets to China), and not listing FDR's blunders, I must say that Mr. Middleton, a well-informed American and frequent letter writer to the Telegraph is largely correct and has rendered a factual verdict! —MAF

Foreign Policy!

Macon Telegraph, Letter to the Editor, January 13, 2015

No to all things Obama

Incredibly, after a massive defeat in the November election that President Obama claimed was a referendum on all his policies, the president doubled down on furthering those policies through executive orders, while an inexplicably timid GOP House approved an omnibus budget passed by the defeated Democrats.

Then, to heighten the absurdity, the new Majority leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, assured the American public that the new Republican majority in Congress wouldn’t pass any “scary” legislation. It was obvious he meant “scary” in the sense of “substantial,” as if the people’s vote in the last election had said, “Just nibble around the edges of Obama’s policies -- if we had wanted you to do anything serious, we would have given you a lopsided victory.” Oh wait, they did.

Newsflash to the new Congress: You want scary? Here’s a brief sample of what has scared Americans into voting a resounding “no” to all things Obama:

• Military families being warned by the government not to mention their military connection on social media because ISIS has threatened to “track down and slaughter the families of the U.S. military.” Meanwhile, the president is still barely able to get the word ‘terrorism” out of his mouth after every jihadist

• A massive health care law that has blown up the cost of health care for 97 percent of 320,000,000 Americans in order to sign up a paltry 9,000,000 to Obamacare. And many of the sign-ups were thrown off their private plans by, you guessed it, Obamacare.

• Five million illegals unlawfully given amnesty by the president. And immigration workers predict those numbers will almost certainly swell to 10 million when fraudulent paperwork emerges claiming residence over 10 months. The president has already quickly moved to issue the illegals green cards, Social Security cards and driver’s licenses and is unconcerned that these millions of non-citizens will certainly hurt poor Americans by offering to work for less pay.

• And a final personal anecdote concerning a physician friend in Macon who called the White House to complain about Obamacare and was almost instantly audited by the IRS. He came out clean as a whistle and then the IRS immediately audited him again and this time “discovered” he had “undervalued” his parking lot and owed $20,000 in taxes.

And this just scratches the surface of the many Obama policies that were soundly rejected by the voters in November. The new Congress should have gotten the message that all vigorous legislation to stop this president’s agenda will be met with thankfulness, not terror. -- Rinda Wilson, Macon

Interesting conversation at a friend's website regarding his article, "The Anti-Bauer in the White House" By Dr. David C. Stolinsky, January 12, 2015, on Obama No Show in Paris:

Vet 27: Surely you’re not implying that President Obama encouraged the Paris attack? Besides, the march was mainly a feel good kumbaya thing.

Dr. David c. Stolinsky: No, of course I’m not implying that Obama actually encouraged the Paris attack. But I am implying–in fact I’m saying plainly–that the administration has been reluctant even to use the word “terrorism.” Fort Hood was “workplace violence” only if you’ve been living on another planet, a remote one at that.

And when Obama told the U.N., “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam,” reasonable people didn’t see this as an invitation to violence. But what about unreasonable people, of which there are many millions? Did Obama consider how they might hear his statement?

Yes, the Paris march was largely feel-good. Who knows if anything positive will come from it? But without at least an expression of anti-terrorist solidarity, nothing at all would result. Mobilizing public opinion is a good first step. Let’s hope it isn’t the only step.

Eastern Ukraine in turmoil!

The 17 April Geneva accord was agreed at talks between Russia, Ukraine, the EU and US. It demanded an immediate end to violence in eastern Ukraine and called on illegal armed groups to surrender their weapons and leave official buildings.Sergei Lavrov: "All signs show that Kiev can't, and maybe doesn't want to, control the extremists who continue to call the shots"

Pro-Russian militants are still holding official buildings in at least nine towns and cities in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine.

Mr Biden again accused Russia of supporting "men in masks in unmarked uniforms" who the US says are directing pro-Russian activity in the East. Moscow denies being behind the protests and seizures of buildings in the east.
Ukraine says photos released by the Ukrainian government and distributed by the US State Department show Russian soldiers among militants holding official buildings in eastern Ukraine. There was no immediate response to the pictures from the Russian government...

Ukraine has been in turmoil since last November, when Kiev was gripped by protests against President Viktor Yanukovych over his rejection of an economic pact with the EU. He was toppled in February and fled to Russia. Russia then annexed Crimea following a regional referendum that approved joining the Russian federation. The annexation provoked international outrage.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday signed a decree to rehabilitate Crimea's Muslim Tatars and other ethnic minorities who suffered during the rule of Soviet dictator Josef Stalin.

However, on Tuesday the Tatar assembly said the leader of the community, Mustafa Dzhemilev, had been banned from returning to the annexed territory for five years.
Mr Dzhemilev was reportedly informed of the ban by Russian border guards as he crossed from Crimea to mainland Ukraine. Russia has given no official explanation.

The 300,000-strong Tatar community - which makes up 15% of Crimea's population - opposed the peninsula's incorporation into Russia last month.

Who will blink first?

GOPUSA Comments (March 24, 2014)

pb1174: "Very well written. Obama the unprepared has stumbled in the dog doo frequently as history will undoubtedly document. Two issues that you mention that permanently stick with me, are the arrogance of Obama toward Mitt Romney in the debates and the treasonous mishandling of the Benghazi murders. Romney, like his Mich Governor father before him, would have had our country thriving rather than stagnating.

In the debates, we must also implicate the incompetence of the bumbling pro Obama press/moderator as she butted in incorrectly in the discussion. As for Benghazi, our Princess in Waiting, Ms Clinton may well be more the cause of the Ambassador’s murder than Obama. Certainly her “What does it Matter” remark should go down in history as a singularly disgusting and cold remark. The indiscretions of Bill Clinton pale in comparison to his heartless female companion.

Carolyne: What about the Muslim threat? Obama promised while campaigning for president that he would “Fundamentally change America.” His followers who looked at him as some kind of second coming, neglected to ask in what way he planed to change our country.

It is now abundantly clear that his intention was to resign our position as a leader of the Free World and weaken the US militarilly, morally, and end our prosperity. Further, I believe he is a Kenya-born Muslim who’s goal is to assist in establishing the World-Wide Caliphate so desired by Islam. He is doing so admirably. But this is what he promised.

I do not believe that among our civil rights is the right to destroy our country from within. That is exactly what Muslims plan and that is included in the mission statement of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated our government at the highest levels and is frequently entertained at the White House. Many of our Federal Courts are manned by those who would recognize Sharia Law as above US law and frequently find in favor of this repressive code. If a Federal Court finds that the NYPD cannot remain vigilant to this threat, we will never again be safe.

Oleteabag: I think it is glaringly obvious what Obama’s “foreign policy report card” grade should be, and that is a big, fat, red “F.” He is an EPIC FAILURE in EVERY area of his Presidency, if you measure it by his oath to “preserve, protect and defend” the Constitution of the US.

Of course if you measure it by the desire of this America-hating PUKE to reduce American influence in the world and reduce the US to just another Third World, poverty-ridden Communist “worker’s paradise”, why, then he is succeeding admirably.

middleground: Look deeper! Our nation’s entire election system needs to be reworked. Obama was elected by the MSM using the same techniques used to sell soap to housewives... We no longer have a Constitutional Republic. We have an orchestrated carnival that requires massive funding, and to judge from the last two presidential elections funding from vested, but hidden sources. For example, “Clean Energy” from windmills and solar panels is an expensive scam. Fossil fuels, dams and fission power are needed for cheap power until fusion comes on line reportedly after 2030. That is reality and everything else is Utopian fluff...

Dido: “Obama was elected by the MSM using the same techniques used to sell soap to housewives.” LOL!
“We no longer have a Constitutional Republic.” No, we have a social democracy, a red orchestra controlled by an oligarchy of demagogues, seconded by a lapdog media!

And Carolyne, I think you are right. Obama means to destroy this country from within, and a little foreign policy mismanagement or incompetence may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back!
